The British Fashion Council (BFC) is delighted to announce the winners of The Fashion Awards 2019 which recognise and celebrate creativity and innovation in fashion. Tonight, The Fashion Awards welcomed a global mix of 4,000 guests, including key players from the fashion industry as well as members of the public at the Royal Albert Hall in London, to celebrate exceptional individuals whose imagination and creativity have broken new ground in fashion over the past 12 months; as well as brands and businesses that have transformed the possibilities of fashion today.
The evening, hosted by award-winning American actress, CEO, and producer Tracee Ellis Ross, celebrated sixteen awards, ten of which are put out to vote to an international panel of fashion industry experts, five Special Recognition Awards and a new Designers’ Designer Award, voted for by BFC Designer Members. Each winner was given a unique Swarovski crystal trophy, designed by Welsh artist, Ross Lovegrove.
Alongside all the celebrated awards, NEW WAVE: Creatives 2019 were given special mention by BFC Ambassador for Positive Fashion Adwoa Aboah. The category was introduced at The Fashion Awards 2018 to celebrate the young global creative community. The NEW WAVE: Creatives 2019 represent 100 of the most innovative and inspiring young creative talents from around the world. The list highlights London’s position as an international epicentre and pays homage to the incredible success of both home-grown and international talent; while celebrating all those who play a vital role in the industry’s cultural and creative reputation.
As well as recognising designers and industry leaders, The Fashion Awards celebrated raw creativity by hosting the Central Saint Martins, The White Show as part of this year’s ceremony. Each year the new intake of BA Fashion students is asked to create a design presented in white. This extraordinary collection is usually presented as an internal show. This year, for the first time, The White Show was brought to the Royal Albert Hall, recognising and celebrating the first creative steps of the next generation of fashion talent from all over the world, brought together in fashion’s creative capital, London. The BFC also sponsored The White Show through enabling the college to provide the students with sustainably sourced white fabrics to realise their vision. Little Simz opened the show and performed two tracks, Venom and Jealous, with The White Show.
In celebration of Mr Giorgio Armani’s Outstanding Achievement award, Mr. Armani presented an Armani Privé couture catwalk show to the guests as a gift to The Fashion Awards 2019 and invited long-time collaborator and music icon Eric Clapton to play the evening out.

The Fashion Awards is the main fundraiser for the BFC’s charitable and talent support work. The BFC is a not for profit organisation focused on promoting excellence in British fashion and supporting the future
pipeline of creative talent. The BFC’s work is achieved through a range of charitable initiatives which focus on education, business and mentoring schemes that support talent from school level, and emerging designers, to fashion start-ups and established brands. In 2018, the BFC raised over £2.3 million for its charities and business support initiatives, out of which £1.1 million will be allocated directly to scholars and designer businesses. The remaining money will go towards building an endowment to secure support for future generations.

Formula E returns to London.
The countdown begins: The ABB FIA Formula E Championship returns to the UK capital in 12 months time for the 2019/20 season finale.
24 cars and drivers going head-to-head in the historical heartland of the city’s docklands on July 25 & 26, 2020.
To celebrate the start of the 12-month countdown to the 2020 London E-Prix and grand finale of the 2019/20 season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, organisers pulled the covers off a brand new Union Jack liveried Gen2 car at a unique pop-up event activation at ExCeL London.
“We’re excited to be bringing the future of motorsport to the UK capital and believe that the London E-Prix will become one of the flagship events in global motorsport, right up there with the likes of Monaco, Macau and Le Mans.” said Alejandro Agag, Founder & CEO of Formula E.
Racing around the city’s iconic Royal Docks and ExCeL London exhibition centre, the race will be the first time that an FIA-sanctioned championship event has taken place in and around the streets of London – with Crystal Palace hosting non-championship races in Formula One almost half a century ago.
Consisting of 20 turns, the 2.4km track will see the drivers run along the waterfront for the season finale double-header of the 2019/20 campaign on July 25 & 26, 2020.
With 24 all-electric cars going head-to-head, the London race will be a first for top-level international motorsport. Made possible by the emissions-free nature of the Gen2 cars, the unique track weaves its way both inside and outside of ExCeL London.
Celebrating the start of the 12-month countdown, a pop-up event space was revealed in the West entrance of the ExCeL London centre, where fans learnt everything about the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, and what to expect at the event and register for tickets ahead of the first release.
“This is the first time that a championship event has been staged in and around the streets of London and it’s a race that any category would be proud to have on its calendar. But only the ABB FIA Formula E Championship can, because our cars are fully-electric and emissions-free,” said Agag.
“Fans can expect a great spectator experience – just 18-minutes from the city centre on public transport – and our ambition is for ExCeL London to become the home of Formula E in the UK for many years to come, as well as the London E-Prix featuring as a mainstay of a British summer of sport. We want it to become a must-attend event that you just can’t miss out on, like Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and the Lord’s Test Match.
“The ABB FIA Formula E Championship is about bringing motorsport to the masses, with wheel-to-wheel action, affordable ticket prices and unpredictable racing. That’s not something that can be said about other series right now, and Formula E is putting the sport back into motorsport,” added the Formula E boss.
