The Serpentine Summer Party is hosted by Chanel and set in the grassed grounds of the Serpentine art gallery in London’s Kensington Gardens.
With this years event unfortunately unable to go ahead, we look back at some of our favourite pictures from previous years.

This spectacular annual celeb-fest has attracted a line-up of art lovers, hotel magnates and aristocrats. Pop stars, fashion designers and business moguls flock to the event each year, so it is not one to be missed. In the last years, the party welcomed Royal guests including Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Lady Amelia Windsor. Also in attendance was Suki Waterhouse, Laura Bailey, Alexa Chung and co wore Karl Lagerfeld creations, joined by Yana Peel, Frida Escobedo and Kaya Scodelario.
This major annual fundraiser celebrates the Serpentine Summer Season and the year-round support of the Galleries’ friends, partners and collaborators.
Following the success of last year’s collaboration between the Serpentine Galleries and CHANEL, which saw the pioneering art institution and iconic fashion house combine creative forces, the partnership developed for 2018 creating a unique event celebrating free art and free thinking and honouring the best of art and architecture in the heart of the city.

Leading figures from the worlds of international art, architecture, design, fashion, music, film and business attended the party to celebrate and raise funds for the Serpentine’s globally acclaimed exhibitions, architecture, education and live programmes.
The Serpentine’s legendary summer fundraiser raises essential funds for the Galleries’ programmes, keeping access to the Serpentine free and open to all, all year round.
The Summer Party is organised by the Serpentine Galleries with support from CHANEL.
Tickets are now available for the 2021 party: Tuesday 22nd June 2021, at the Serpentine Gallery, Kensington Gardens, London.

With the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show having been cancelled this year we look back on some of our pictures from previous years.
The show had been moved from July to September in the hope that it could still go ahead but this is now not possible.

Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, says; “We had so hoped that we could hold our much loved RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival this autumn for our members, visitors, exhibitors and sponsors, but sadly in these challenging times this is just not possible.
“We are pleased that our Virtual Chelsea online show did so much in terms of bringing some horticultural joy to the nation, as well as supporting the horticulture industry and we continue to support our nurseries through the Garden Magazine and online during this time.”
Everyone who has purchased a ticket to the affected shows will be contacted by the RHS and offered 2021 show dates, refunds and other options should they wish to show their support of the RHS.
Sue finishes: “We continue to carefully follow Government advice and make responsible decisions with the health and safety of people always at the front of our minds.
“All future planned RHS shows are of course subject to Government advice allowing them to take place, but we hope to welcome you back in 2021 to some spectacular shows, including of course the world’s best flower show, Chelsea 2021”.

STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF ASCOT RACECOURSE ABOUT ROYAL ASCOT 2020……
For public health and safety reasons we have reached the difficult but unavoidable conclusion that Royal Ascot 2020 (Tuesday 16th – Saturday 20th June) will not be able to take place as an event open to the public. This will of course be a great disappointment for everyone planning to attend.
It may prove possible to run the Royal Ascot races behind closed doors, dependent on Government and public health policy and the approval of the BHA for us to re-start racing. This would be for the benefit of the industry, our valued partners and suppliers and our television audiences at home and internationally. Planning for this is now our complete focus and we will update on progress as and when we can.

Customers who have already paid for entry and hospitality at Royal Ascot will be refunded in full in the usual way as quickly as possible and we will start the process of communicating with them, initially by email, immediately. We thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding in completing this substantial task given the challenging practical circumstances of the current national lockdown.
The pandemic will have a significant financial impact on our business in 2020, along with so many others. Nevertheless, Ascot racecourse will come through this crisis and we look forward to being able to welcome racegoers back when it is safe to do so.
Meanwhile, our thoughts are with all those grieving and suffering as a result of COVID-19. We offer heartfelt thanks to our wonderful NHS staff, key workers and volunteers for all their selfless dedication.
Guy Henderson, Chief Executive, Ascot Racecourse.

Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, and current uncertainty about events, the RHS has made changes to the schedule for some of its summer Flower Shows.
As The Chelsea Flower Show has been cancelled this year we are looking back at some of our pictures from previous years.
To continue trying to support British nurseries and bring some of the charity’s much loved gardening shows to its members and wider public this year, the RHS has decided that:
2020 RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival will be postponed to 10–15 September, Preview Evening 9 September (it was scheduled 7 – 12 July)
2020 RHS Tatton Park Flower Show will be cancelled this year (it was scheduled 22 – 26 July)
2020 RHS Wisley Flower Show will be cancelled this year (it was scheduled 8-13 September)
2020 RHS Hyde Hall Flower Show has been postponed to 2-6 September (it was scheduled 5 – 9 August)
2020 RHS Rosemoor Flower Show has been postponed to 18-20 September (it was scheduled 14 – 16 August)
Dates are limited in September to put on Flower Shows. Postponing Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival to September enables the RHS to support nurseries in the South of England who regularly attend both Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival and the Wisley Show. There are already other Flower Shows taking place in the North of England in September, including the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show, and the RHS has made the decision to not hold Tatton, so it doesn’t clash with them and impact on nurseries and trade exhibiting there.

Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, says; “The RHS is extremely sad to miss this important event and seeing so many friends at Tatton and we are currently considering a virtual show as a way to stay in touch with exhibitors and the community that love Tatton as much as we do.
“We are also sorry to cancel our very special Wisley Flower Show, but with moving Hampton dates it does not make sense to hold two Flower Shows, in such close proximity, so close in time. We hope that the joy of returning to Wisley in summer will be reason enough for our much valued members and visitors to come and see us again.”
We will contact everyone who has purchased a ticket to the affected shows to offer later show dates, refunds and other options should they wish to show their support of the RHS.
Sue finishes; “We continue to carefully follow Government advice and make responsible decisions with the health and safety of people always at the front of our minds.
“As well as being much loved by visitors, RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival is a really important platform for the horticultural industry. We are sorry to not be able to hold our wonderful Tatton Show, however, we look forward to returning to the North West in a big way in 2021 with the return of Tatton Park and the opening of RHS Garden Bridgewater.”
All future planned RHS shows are of course subject to Government advice allowing them to take place.

What’s On Magazine March issue is out now.
You will find a comprehensive list of forthcoming events for March in your local area as well as many London exhibitions.
It also features pictures from the opening night of The Upstart Crow. David Mitchell makes his West End debut in Ben Elton’s stage adaptation of the critically acclaimed BBC TV sitcom. This all-new comedy – written especially for the stage and now playing at the Gieldud Theatre.
Pick up a copy at one of our many local distribution points including major supermarkets or read online.

Joining Mitchell as Will Shakespeare in bringing their TV characters to life on stage is Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones / Gentleman Jack) as Kate, Helen Monks (Raised by Wolves / Inside No. 9) as Susanna, Rob Rouse (Grownups) as Bottom and Steve Speirs (Stella / Rovers) as Burbage. Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner / Spaced) who TV viewers will know as Robert Greene, will play a new character, Dr John Hall in this 11-week season, directed by Olivier award-winner Sean Foley (The Ladykillers, Jeeves and Wooster and The Miser).
David Mitchell says: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to bring history’s most famous balding dramatist to the West End via the amazing comic imagination of Ben Elton. Theatre goers can look forward to a comedy steeped in authentic Shakespearean ambience in every way apart from the smell.”
Ben Elton says: “Besides Will and Kate many of the other characters from the TV sitcom feature in this new play and I’m delighted that they will all be played by the original actors. Steve Speirs returns as Burbage the Actor, no doubt relishing the extra opportunity that live theatre offers for serious shouting and strutting. Hilarious Helen Monks is back as Shakespeare’s grumpy daughter Susanna. Top comic Rob Rouse will once again have us laughing at his Bottom and the show stopping Mark Heap who played Robert Greene is returnED in villainous guise! Gotta say, the brilliant new actors who are joining Upstart Crow for the first time will have to really pull up their puffling pants if they don’t want to get upstaged!”
