MasterChef Returns on The Hunt To Find Britain’s Best Cook

BBC One is once again hosting the culinary competition to find the best cook in the country as MasterChef returns for 2013, it was announced today.

The iconic series, made by Shine TV, is back to give some of Britain’s best amateur cooks the chance to follow in the footsteps of 2012 champion, Shelina Permalloo.

John Torode and Gregg Wallace will once again preside over the judging table and extraordinary challenges, as the hopefuls from across the country must prove they have the skill, talent and a genuine commitment to changing their lives in favour of a future in the food industry, to carry off the title of MasterChef 2013.

Commissioned for the BBC by Mirella Breda, the competition will once again aim to find and encourage talented amateur cooks who have a flair for making exceptional food from scratch.

Based on a format created by Franc Roddam, MasterChef has been devised and produced by Karen Ross for Shine TV since 2005 and has gone from strength to strength, moving from an original tea-time slot on BBC Two to a prime time slot on BBC One. The ninth series will be broadcast on BBC One in the spring of 2013.

MasterChef Creative Director, Karen Ross, said: “After eight exciting years of the amateur competition we look forward to its 9th incarnation with some new twists and turns; good, bad and surprising food, adventure, humor and drama as we search for those final amateurs that still continue to amaze us and the country with their level of skill, determination and desire to win.”

Applications are now open for the ninth series, to apply applicants must download the application form at: http://apply.shinegroup.tv/masterchef/applicationform.apply
